Vaccination Policy Effective 10/1/2017

We at Long Island Pediatrics believe that all children need to be appropriately immunized for their own health and safety as well as the health and safety of other children in the community.

We at Long Island Pediatrics believe that all children need to be appropriately immunized for their own health and safety as well as the health and safety of other children in the community. We very strongly recommend using the standard immunization schedule of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).  However, we also respect the parents’ right to make individual decisions for the care of their child, and if parents feel strongly that they do not wish to adhere to the recommended immunization schedule, we are willing, within reason, to work with them to accomplish the goal of fully immunizing their child.

Because of the complexity of the standard vaccination schedule, the direct supervision by a physician is required when there is a deviation from it. Patients whose parents choose to customize the standard vaccine schedule visits for shots will need additional scheduled visits with the doctor to become fully immunized on an alternate individualized schedule. Copays, Co- Insurance, Deductibles for these additional office visits will be billed and applied accordingly.  Payment will be expected at the time of service.

All active families prior to October 1, 2017 can continue with their current vaccine plan. After October 1, 2017 Long Island Pediatrics will no longer accept patients who do not vaccinate their children.
